Learn about the Q-Build Initiative

Q-Build: Building Queensland’s Future

Q-Build is an integral part of Queensland’s $59 billion building and construction industry, employing over 1,600 staff across 20 offices and 35 depots. As the Queensland Government’s builder, Q-Build plays a vital role in constructing and maintaining essential public infrastructure such as schools, social housing, police stations, and health facilities. With a legacy of over 160 years, QBuild is committed to delivering quality, safety, and value for money while supporting regional and remote communities.

Core Services

Q-Build’s operations span four key areas:

  • Plan: Strategic development of infrastructure projects.
  • Build: Execution of high-quality construction projects.
  • Maintain: Ongoing maintenance to keep assets functional and safe.
  • Respond: Rapid response to natural disasters to help communities rebuild quickly.

Innovation in Housing Solutions

Q-Build’s Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) program accelerates the delivery of social housing and front line worker accommodations, particularly in regional and remote areas. Partnering with the modular home industry, this approach allows simultaneous manufacturing and site preparation, reducing costs and delivery times. The MMC program is on track to produce over 600 modular homes by December 2025, alleviating housing pressures and supporting essential workers.

Rapid Accommodation and Apprenticeship Centres (RAACs)

Q-Build has established RAAC facilities in Brisbane and Cairns to support the MMC program. These centers produce prefabricated homes and provide training opportunities for apprentices and jobs for local workers, ensuring a skilled workforce for the future.
